MILNER OR SWP- WHO IS THE BETTER SIGNING?

By Howard JP Hodgson on Aug 29, 08 05:13 PM in Fans

Now that we have secured the signing of James MIlner I wanted to find out who Villa fans would have wanted given the choice??

My view is that two years ago I would have said Wright Phillips every time but since Milner was last with us he has improved no end as a player and if anything SWP has gone the other way.

Milner is definitely the more reliable of the two. Possibly SWP would have been the more exciting signing. MIlner will finally give us much needed balance on the right and his work ethic is second to none.

Hi Howard,

As I said before I personally would have opted for SWP. MON says different so I must be wrong. The positives for Milner over SWP are firstly his age 22, level of consistent effort; he doesn't appear to be as much of a "form" player as SWP. Defensively he puts in more effort as well which I think was a key factor in MON’s thinking. If he can sort out his final ball I think he'll be great. One final point we have Routledge who I thought played quite well last night and if he comes into form could be as good as SWP? So if we need a bit more of a cutting edge on the right bring him on or if heaven forbid young gets injured routledge could be our cutting edge.
Good Signing!

James Milner all the way for me, he offers options all across the front line and he's a bloody hard worker.
SWP is good don't get me wrong but I don't thing he would put in as much graft and make as much impact over the course of a season as Milner
