I thought you guys out played us for the first 45 minutes and were very unlucky to go into halftime a goal down. I rate Martin ONeil as a manager and think he has done a fantastic job with Villa over the last couple of years my only critism of him would be that he said have strenghend the squad when he had the chance. With regards to Gabby getting booed id have to say im against it really its not like you can go out and buy someone to replace him and you don`t really have the depth in your squad to leave him out, i didn`t agree with our fans when they booed bent and Gomes simply because it won`t help. Trying to give as unbiased view as possible. I wish you all the best for the rest of the season and hope you do get 4th above the Scum. COME ON YOU SPURS!
COYS, we didn't boo Gomes, we 'ironically' cheered when he made rudimentary plays.
As for Bent, again this is no comparison with Agbonlahor. After all the latter didn't cost Villa 16m and has scarcely had a decent game in two years. There's nothing reactionary about the players we have booed, it's pure, extended frustration.
I've no idea why Villa are booing one of the best young strikers in the EPL who is Villa through and through. It's ridiculous.
Think how many bad performances it would take Jamie O'Hara or Ledley King to get booed... it simply would never happen.
So DDS, is one of your D's for Dick?
Ironically cheering amounts to the same as booing. Darren Bent didn't decide his fee. Only 3 prem league players have scored more than Bent this season. He's top of the English prem players.
Booing your own players is totally moronic and only demotivates them (look it up)
Dick !
Villa fans should realise how far they have come. In two short seasons they have gone from a midtable side no-one wanted to watch. MoTD would show about 2 seconds of their game as they always seemed to end 0-0 in a half empty villa park. On sunday they got between by two well timed goals. Something they have done to teams away from home all season. They are now a side who other teams admire. Hardworking, well organised and two or three quality young players. Their fans are ruining this image big time as they really shouldnt have anything to boo about. try spending most the season in bottom three when you expected to be where you are!
The result I thought was just about fair, I thought Vila were on top in the first half and we really did 'mug' you, yet the second half despite a larger amount of possession none of the Villa attacks really threatened. The chances that Spurs made were the more threatening and I thought that despite your superiority that the cutting edge just wasn't there and then you resorted to lumping balls up to Heskey. Shame it helped Arsenal.
On booing players- on the whole I do not like it, it isn't constructive and not helpful at all. Despite Darren Bent having 14 odd goals this season he rarely looks like he cares for Spurs at all. It never looks like he 'puts in a shift' and runs his heart out - It hink it would be much appreciated if he did. That said, why would you want to do that for 40,000 fans that boo when your name is read out.
Darren didnt ask for the 16 Million fee and dso don't burden him with that. He is here and so long as he wears the tottnehma crest on his chest, I for one will be cheering him.
as for Gabby, Ithink it is unfair completly to level criticism at him, every player has a lull in form, and it is no coincidence that his has happened with Heskey being brought in. the 433/451 formation that allowed Villa to break with speed and get in behind defences has changed to a static 442 with balls going through Heskey. M.O.N has changed teh style of play from one which perfectly suited Gaby to one which he is having to fit into. That said he is a top class striker who should still be knocking in a tap in. The boy is young, talented and a villa player, your fans should get behind him and cheer him and support him throught that phase. the last hing you want is for him to become disillusioned and want a move.
COME ON YOU SPURS AND COME ON VILLA, KNOCK THE SOUTH LONDON SCUM OFF THEIR ARROGANT CHAMPIONS' LEAGUE PERCH!!
